Abstract

INTRODUCTION In 1995, Nelson Engineering was contracted by the Town of Jackson and the Teton County Natural Resource District to characterize the Town of Jackson's storm water discharge into Flat Creek. The first tasks in this undertaking were to collect information on the existing storm water system and precipitation. Armed with the information from the first tasks, it was possible to then identify a "typical" storm water producing event for Jackson, select three representative storm sewer outfalls for water quality analysis, and setup a flow measuring methodology for those outfalls. At that point in time, the next step was to wait for the "typical" event, collect samples from the event, and ship them to the analytical laboratory for analysis. Once the event analysis was complete, the remaining task was the preparation of the enclosed report.
